How can the rail sector attract, support, and retain more women? And what practical steps are needed to create lasting change?
Join us on 29 September 2026 at the UIC Headquarters for an interactive workshop bringing together railway professionals, policymakers, researchers, associations, and emerging talent to explore concrete solutions for advancing gender equality across the sector.
Organised by the University of Málaga and UIC, the workshop forms part of the PhDs EU-Rail project, co-funded by the European Union and Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the latest progress and preliminary findings from the doctoral research project Change Making for Gender Equality in Rail, which examines the experiences, perceptions, barriers, and opportunities encountered by women as both railway professionals and rail users.
More than a simple presentation of research, this workshop is designed as a collaborative forum for discussion and creation. Through interactive sessions and stakeholder consultation, participants will be able to share their perspectives, test emerging findings, and contribute to identifying effective measures that can help build a more inclusive railway sector.
Whether you work in rail operations, policy, research, human resources, education or advocacy, your experience and insights can help shape recommendations that support meaningful and lasting change.
Be part of the conversation and help shape the future of gender equality in rail.
