We are about to launch the 16th edition of ILCAD on 6 June.

For this occasion, the ILCAD 2024 video has just been published, bringing together CCTV footage to show the misuse of some level crossings in various countries.

A level crossing is only safe when users cross in a safe manner, respecting road traffic rules. But for several reasons, some users do not.

English version of the video:

The ILCAD 2024 campaign targets “vulnerable users” with the slogan: “Beware of trains. Life can change in a split second”.

The aim of the campaign is to make level crossing users more aware of the risks they may encounter when crossing in an inappropriate way.

Available in English, French, Spanish and German, the video has been shared with up to 50 countries taking part in the campaign around the world. It has now also been translated into Greek, Croatian, Hungarian and Slovenian – and many more languages will be available soon.

In addition to the video, our level crossing safety flyers, published by the International Union of Railways (UIC), International Road Federation (IRF) and Operation Lifesaver Estonia (OLE) and intended for pedestrians, cyclists, users of micro mobility devices, and persons with reduced mobility (PRM), are available in several languages here: https://ilcad.org/ilcad/article/safety-tips.

UIC is also delighted to invite you to the conferences to launch the 3rd edition of TreSPAD on 5 June and the 16th edition of ILCAD on 6 June, followed by technical and social visits on 7 June 2024 at the kind invitation of the Argentinian Transport Safety Board= Junta de Seguridad en el Transporte (JST).
