Marc Guigon, UIC Passenger Director and Coordinator of the UIC Middle East and Latin American Regions, attended the Middle East and North Africa Transport Congress and Exhibition in Dubai, which took place from 6 to 8 February in Dubai, organised by UITP and RTA. Mr Guigon was pleased to meet representatives of Etihad Rail, which operates trains and is the infrastructure manager in the United Arab Emirates, at the event.

Significant investments in public transport projects show that the MENA region is witnessing a clear paradigm shift towards more public transport.

The theme of this year’s event was “Building the future of mobility”. The aim of the event is to promote public transport throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, showcase developments in public transport on a global stage, and learn about the development of autonomous technologies, smart ticketing, artificial intelligence, dynamic on-demand services, and much more.
