On 22 April 2021, the UIC-led project PROACTIVE contributed to the Innovation Workshop “European Resilience in case of Pandemics” organised by DG HOME under the Community of European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS). The workshop had around 200 participants, including European and national policymakers, researchers and industry representatives. Project Coordinator Grigore Havarneanu was invited to present PROACTIVE results about adequate communication to enhance societal resilience.
After a brief overview of the project, he highlighted the key crisis communication recommendations from PROACTIVE: easily understandable messages delivered by credible sources, message consistency across multiple channels, inclusive message formats, and messages with both emotional and rational appeal.
Further, on 6 May 2021, a detailed PROACTIVE presentation was given during the Working Group (WG) Counter-terrorism of the European Association of Railway Police Forces (RAILPOL). Grigore Havarneanu presented the preliminary project achievements which are relevant for the WG’s CBRN security topic and invited the group members to contribute their expertise to the ongoing PROACTIVE study led by the German Police University (https://proactive.limequery.com/951566?lang=en). The online survey is collecting answers from various practitioner networks including police, firefighters, medical responders, civil protections, military, railway security, etc.
Over the summer period, the PROACTIVE team will deliver more presentations at several other events and scientific conferences.
