“Music and trains bring people together” is a TopRail initiative in the framework of the European Year of Rail 2021.
TopRail is a UIC project that actively promotes railway tourism products by increasing the visibility of service offerings. This is accomplished by fostering close collaboration between stakeholders and their customers to encourage railway tourism opportunities and new business.
Railway tourism is able to offer a wide range of tourism alternatives for every need combining different aspects like heritage, astonishing landscapes, combined excursions, new technologies, luxury or family trips whilst contributing to fostering local economies and sustainable travel.
After a very difficult period around the world due to Covid-19, rail tourism has proved to be a resilient business and a way to bring our clients back on board.
With this initiative TopRail members would like to inspire and bring joy and hope to our clients and to the rail community by sharing Beethoven’s Ode to Joy played by artists across the world from Lisbon’s beautiful heritage locomotives to the brand-new luxury Shiki-shima Express train in Japan, passing through Spain and the astonishing lake Balaton in Hungry.
The final music video has been published today on the occasion of the International Day of Tourism.
UIC would like to thank all the TopRail members for this initiative and their commitment to the project, especially to those artists and companies that have actively share their art and resources to make it possible: East Japan Railway Company, MÁV-START, FGC, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Comboios de Portugal and Fundação Museu Nacional Ferroviario, Renfe and Fundación de Ferrocarriles Españoles.
Let’s celebrate live, music and trains together again!
