IRaTCA’s 2nd Railway rolling stock training course since last year, from Jun. 8 to 26, 2009 was successfully finished with the sponsorship of KORAIL and UIC. This course targeting the rolling stock experts has a spectrum of subjects, widely ranging from Diesel Locomotive to KTX and Light Rail Vehicle. It was designed to come up with the forward-looking development plans through the feasible solution to the technical gaps regarding rolling stocks among participants’ countries.

This course had ten trainees from 5 countries including UIC member countries such as India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan. The trainees acquired the relevant knowledge and witnessed the technological developments through lectures and technical visits. Especially the 2nd International Railway Network Seminar and Team Projects gave them the precious opportunity to grasp the current status of each country and to seek out any practicable solutions applicable to their own countries. Consequently these programs are very helpful to take on the immediate and tangible effects of the training.

In addition to the patterned programs above, IRaTCA offered the privileged lecture to the trainees by inviting Mr. Ignacio Barron, Director of UIC High Speed Department in order to hear the global trend of high speed railway. He delivered his vivid lectures regarding the current status of high speed rail development and the high speed rolling stock to his trainees.

Mr. Kwang Mo KIM, Director of IRaTCA said, “I am very glad to see that the trainees showed their passionate participation in the training and I hope more and more support and interest will be anticipated”
