The EuropeTrain international test campaign, coordinated and managed by DB on behalf of UIC, is continuing according to schedule.

After the train passed the Rhine Valley and Switzerland via Saint-Gotthard, it entered Italy on 17 June. Between 18 June and 15 July the train shuttled four times between Milan in Italy and Modane in France (transalpine line), and three times from Milan to Bari in the south of Italy in very hot and dry weather conditions.

The train was only able to operate at weekends, thus only covering around 9,300 km. On 17 July the train returned to Minden, Germany via Switzerland and the Rhine Valley after 29 days.

Directly after its return, the measurements of wheels and brake blocks were taken as usual. Before the next run, the EuropeTrain’s International Analysis Team (IAT) will discuss the results, define further activities and in particular decide on which wagons will participate in the next run. This will be the second run on the French Loop and will start on 29 July, travelling via Gent down to Paris and on to Marseille. On its way through the
Netherlands a press event will be held in Amersfoort on 1 August 2011. The return is planned for the second half of August.
