From 21 – 22 October in Marrakech

“NEXT STATION 2015”, the 5th International Conference on Railway Stations organised in close collaboration between UIC, the worldwide railway association, and Moroccan State Railways (ONCF), will take place on 21 and 22 October 2015 in Marrakech.

This “NEXT STATION” conference, which has become a global reference for leaders and decision-makers to share experience and best practice with regard to the development, financing and operation of railway stations, follows the edition successfully held by UIC and RZD in Moscow, in October 2013. Around 500 participants worldwide are expected to attend each edition, which targets both decision-makers from higher railway management as well as from the economic and financial spheres, international bodies, architects, elected representatives and urban planners.

“NEXT STATION 2015” in Marrakech will be held under the overarching theme of “Rethinking stations for future intermobility”. Against this backdrop, senior managers will address the design and building of stations with regard to intermodal synergies, managing passenger flows and access; from an environmental perspective look at technology and services, safety and security, and optimising stations in terms of business and retail; and from a cultural perspective look at the operation and management of stations and their development and changes in years to come, the relationship between stations and their urban environment, specific features of stations served by high speed trains, UIC’s work and universities, etc.

The plenary sessions and round tables held at “NEXT STATION Marrakech 2015” will ensure that these issues are addressed and discussed among all the continents (the six UIC Regions) as well as professional bodies involved in the railway station sector.

The “NEXT STATION 2015” professional trade fair will be a showcase for all railway partners involved in the development, operation and business promotion of stations (business chains, food and beverage, security services, management of car-parks, car-shares, bike use, etc.).

A programme of technical visits will also be offered to participants, as well as a choice of cultural visits to Marrakech.

The “NEXT STATION Marrakech 2015” website will soon be available online.
