UIC’s Director General François Davenne will take part in the IRS Rail Webinar “Post-Covid: What will be the new normal for rail travel?” on 2 June 2020 at 12:00 CEST. The webinar will be the first in a new series of online events organised by the International Railway Summit.

Mr Davenne will be joined by Elisabeth Werner, Director of Land Transport at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) in the debate, which will be moderated by Shift2Rail’s Executive Director Carlo Borghini.

The webinar will explore the possible medium- and long-term changes to rail travel created by the coronavirus, what lessons must be learnt, and what warnings should be heeded.

The IRS Rail Webinars are designed to help the railway sector stay informed and connected. Separated from colleagues, counterparts, stakeholders, and customers, exchanging the latest best practice is now more important than ever.
Policymakers, operators and infrastructure owners, leading suppliers, and pioneering innovators will share experience and best practice throughout the series.

Among the topics being prepared for discussion are:

  • Government measures to support the rail industry
  • Business continuity
  • Crisis management
  • Supply chain disruption
  • Remote monitoring
  • Predictive maintenance
  • Digitalisation
  • Cyber security
  • Staff and asset management
  • Ticketing
