The railway line between Iraq’s northern city Mosul and Turkey has reopened after a 7-year closure. The first train, carrying 13 passengers, ran earlier this week from Mosul to the Turkish city of Gaziantep, covering a distance of 600 kilometres and taking 18 hours. The service is scheduled to operate twice a week. The railway line, which was built in the last century, had been closed since 2003.
