A technical agreement concerning the continuous synchronisation of the development of ERA Technical Documents and corresponding parts of UIC Leaflets for Telematics Applications for Passengers, was signed in Valenciennes, ERA Headquarters, on 15 July 2013, by Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Director General of UIC and Mr Marcel Verslype, Executive Director of the European Railway Agency (ERA).

The aim of this agreement is to specify how UIC and ERA will maintain their respective documents in order to ensure parallelism between the modifications of the common parts of UIC Leaflets and ERA Technical Documents, in order to avoid double standards within the EU, thus providing a single reference to all stakeholders in the railway sector. The publication dates of the documents (UIC Leaflets and ERA Technical Documents) will be aligned.

This agreement recognises the rail system competence and expertise within UIC, as well the role of ERA in the Change Management Process. This Technical Agreement modifies the existing organisation of the evolution of the documents, and a dedicated structure of the representative bodies has to be used for the submission of the change requests to the ERA TAP TSI Change Control Management Working Party.

This agreement enters into force on 15 July 2013. Organisational meetings will thus be held from September 2013 in order to put this agreement in place.
