In the context of a meeting organised by the French Ministry of Finance, Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Director General of UIC, was invited to take part alongside Mrs Manuela López Menéndez, Secretary of Public Works within the Argentina’s Ministry of Transport, Mr Marcelo Orfila, President of the Argentine state-owned company SOFSE (Operadora Ferroviaria Sociedad del Estado) which operates passenger services, and Mr Guillermo Fiad, President of ADIFSE, the Argentine State-owned company which manages rail construction and maintenance.

During this meeting, the main restructuring initiatives planned by Argentina in the area of transport infrastructure underlined the need to renovate all infrastructure sites by focusing in particular on the railways.

UIC was thus able to reiterate its support through renewing the membership of Argentina’s railway authorities and operators to support their ambitious railway development plans.
