Kazakhstan: Address opens up opportunities for transport and logistics complex of Kazakhstan

On 25 February in Kokshetau, the head of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) Kanat Alpysbayev gavea speech to the employees of the Akmola branch with a report to explain the major directions of the Address on the Third Modernisation of Kazakhstan: Global Competitiveness.

Mr Alpysbayev elaborated on the five priorities of the strategy document and drew attention to the activities of the company for the execution of complex tasks defined by the Head of State.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) will continue to introduce innovations in the planning and organisation of traffic, technical and technological re-equipment of the industry. The concept of technical policy of JSC "NC “KTZ” until 2025 and strategy for the automation, the use of digital and robotic technology is under development.

To date, production of the Kazakhstan plants supplied to the markets of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine totalling more than 22 billion tenge. For the period from 2017 to 2020 the plan is to sell products for a total amount of 502 billion tenge.

In the framework of the stability and development of mining and metallurgical and oil and gas industry KTZ will continue to work to improve mechanisms for ensuring the freight cars of these industries. Already this year the need is to draw 7-8 thousand rail cars, and the period to 2025 will require 25 thousand freight railcars.

Work to attract foreign investors and technologies to the development of agricultural production in the SEZ Khorgos - Eastern Gateway is under way.

One of the strategic objectives is the development of a new Eurasian logistics infrastructure.

“Our company needs to increase by 2020 the volume of transit container traffic by 7 times, up to 2 million TEU”, said Mr Alpysbayev.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) will continue the expansion of freight traffic on the Trans-Kazakhstan routes. In the current year 2500 container trains will operate through the territory of Kazakhstan.

This year will begin the second phase of construction of the Kuryk – road transition.

Mr Alpysbayev noted the importance of promoting Kazakhstan routes in the framework of strategic alliances: joint Transport and Logistics Company with Russia and Belarus, the coordinating Committee for development of Trans-Caspian international transport route with the Caucasus countries, Turkey and Eastern Europe.

To enhance Kazakhstan’s competitiveness in the global marketplace a new transport product, “Rail-Air” has been developed as an alternative to the current supply chain “Sea-Air” from Southeast Asia via Dubai to Europe.

“By performing all the above mentioned activities it is planned to achieve the level of income from transit of $ 4 billion dollars by 2020,” said Mr Alpysbayev.

Implementing programmes of training and retraining, development of dual education, and social support of employees of the company will be continued.

According to Mr Alpysbayev, the decision on indexation of tariff rates/salaries of employees of the linear branches is not less than 5% in 2017.

At the end of the report, the head of the company stressed that the strategic objectives set by the Head of State largely depends on the quality and efficiency of transport and logistics holding company of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) and each employee of the company.
