In April 2017 MAV Co. is implementing the wage agreement that has been signed in March 2017 by the representatives of MAV Co. and the trade unions. MAV Co. is implementing a three year-long agreement now with the approval of the Ministry of National Development and with the railway representative bodies, after the Government of Hungary supported the draft agreement for wage increase. According to this agreement, the rate of wage increase in 2017 is on average 13 percent, in 2018 it will be on average 12 percent and in 2019 it will be on average 5 percent.

In the history of the Hungarian State Railways there has never been such increase and there has never been such a schedule that railway workers can plan ahead for three years.

The implementation of the wage agreement makes it possible to improve the market position of railway workers and to enhance the ability of the company to retain staff. All non-executive employees of MAV Group are receiving a wage increase with retroactive effect as from 1 January 2017.

In addition to the wage measures the employer together with trade unions put the Cooperation Agreement on a new footing. This is to ensure a predictable, stable job, to retain the professionally trained employees, to shape the corporate culture, to improve the working conditions, to ensure the schemes for scholarship in order to retain labour supply, etc.
