Scientific and Organising committees of the World High-Speed Congress met on 12 and 13 April 2018 in Ankara

All actors and stakeholders involved in high-speed rail will meet at the 10th World Congress and Exhibition organised by UIC and TCDD from 8 to 11 May 2018 in Ankara

The Scientific Committee and Organising Committees met in Ankara on 12 and 13 April 2018, at the kind invitation of TCDD.

UIC was represented by Marc Guigon, Director of UIC’s Passenger Department, Hervé Aubert, Communications Department, and Michel Leboeuf, Advisor for High-Speed Rail. TCDD and CMS Project representatives also participated in the meetings.

The following points were discussed during the Scientific Committee meeting:

  • Checking details of the confirmed VIPs/speakers/moderators who will participate in the congress
  • Opening and closing ceremony scenarios have been adjusted taking into account the confirmed names of the speakers, to take timings for speeches into account
  • Inauguration of the exhibition was organised
  • The digital session was organised
  • Awards for students was discussed, taking into account the names of the selected start-ups
  • A special slot during the closing ceremony has been dedicated to the Universities Alliance, whose aims are to open and promote high-speed rail to the academic world and to boost research in high-speed rail
  • Test and rehearsal of all typical sessions of the congress have been organised, to fine tune the way they will unfold. A special room has been equipped with all required equipment required for the simulation. Members from TCDD, CMS Project and UIC simulated the moderators and speakers of plenary sessions and parallel sessions.

  • Congress website
  • Opening video: finalisation
  • Point of registration
  • General programme, including training sessions for moderators
  • Update on information received from speakers
  • Logistical issues:
    • Welcome at the airport
    • At the congress centre
    • For welcome cocktail and gala dinner
  • Content of the congress bag, including brochures
  • Exhibition area, and UIC-TCDD common stand
  • 3 technical visits
    • Ankara’s station
    • Maintenance centre
    • Train trip to Konya
