UIC-KORAIL (IRaTCA) Training Session 2018 on Railway Maintenance and Operation in the Digital Era held from 18 – 22 June 2018 in Seoul, Korea

In parallel to the UIC Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, the UIC Asia-Pacific Training Session 2018 on Railway Maintenance and Operation in the Digital Era, kindly hosted by Korail (IRaTCA), took place in Seoul, Korea, from 18 – 22 June 2018.

20 participants from India (IR), Japan (JR East), Kazakhstan (KTZ), Korea (Korail, KRNA, ETRI), Malaysia (SPAD), Mongolia (MTZ), the Philippines (ADB), Russia (RZD, NIIAS), Vietnam (VNR) attended this training session.

The objectives of this training session were to:

  • Share knowledge and best practice of IT application in the railways
  • Understand IT trends of international railways
  • Strengthen cooperation and understand each other

All the attendees delivered presentations of their company’s activities and followed presentations from UIC, Korail, JR East, KRRI and NIIAS experts. In addition, Korail, the session’s host, organised some technical visits to Seoul Station, the KTX Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot in Goyang and the CTC Centre in Guro.

At the end of the training session, all the participants received a certificate during the closing ceremony chaired by Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director General and
Mr Jang Young Chul, Head of Human Resource Development Institute, Korail.

During the UIC Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly held on 21 June 2018 in Seoul, Korail announced the next UIC-KORAIL Training Session 2019 which will be held in Seoul on Railway Publicity (dates to be decided later).
