Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Director General of the International Union of Railways (UIC), and Rolf Härdi, CTO of Deutsche Bahn will deliver keynote speeches during a session exploring the railway sector’s long-term vision for digital transformation entitled “What is the endgame of digitalisation?” at the 7th International Railway Summit. The summit, whose two-day conference focuses on how to achieve an efficient railway system in the digital era, takes place on 20-22 February 2019 at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof Hotel in Frankfurt.

In addition to the high-level interventions of Messrs Loubinoux and Härdi, Dr Tobias Miethaner, Head of Digital Society at the German Ministry of Transport & Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), will lay out the host country’s hopes and plans for how digital, from A.I. to sensors, virtual reality, and the Internet of Things, could change the way transport operates and the way citizens live.

An in-depth debate, which will be moderated by conference chair Francis Bedel, Chief Digital Officer of UIC, will follow. This discussion, open to questions from attending delegates, will include further insights from the keynote speakers as well as the perspectives of Alistair Dormer, CEO of Hitachi Rail Europe, the rolling stock manufacturer and signalling experts, and Raphael Cavalcanti, Chief Product Officer of Hack Partners. Hack Partners’ HackTrain hackathons, and partnerships with major operators and infrastructure owners, enable startups to disrupt and invigorate the sector with new ideas, and established organisations to realise their digital dreams more quickly.

Organisations and individuals interested in learning more about the agenda for the International Railway Summit and about how they can participate in the event can visit www.irits.org or contact the organisers, IRITS Events.

International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key rail operators, rail infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.

International Railway Summit provides a ’matchmaking’ service between rail industry leaders (’buyers’) and technical experts, based on buyer delegates’ project requirements and the proven expertise of large and small suppliers that we have carefully handpicked. Based on this matchmaking, buyer delegates attend one-to-one consultation sessions with suitable suppliers during the annual summit.

In addition to the one-to-one meetings, delegates also attend a conference programme given by key industry leaders and experts and network over lunches and dinners with their counterparts and industry colleagues from all over the world. International Railway Summit is hosted by IRITS Events. The 7th International Railway Summit will take place on 20-22 February 2019 in Frankfurt, Germany. The 8th International Railway Summit will be hosted on 20-22 November 2019 in New Delhi, India.
