Kazakhstan: Increasing rail transport efficiency improves the logistics climate

Management from KTZ– Freight transportation JSC took part in a meeting of representatives of the Ministry of National Economy, together with Almaty-based entrepreneurs, held within the framework of a comprehensive plan of measures to improve indicators for “Doing Business”.

Emil Mahmudov, Director of the Department of Marketing and Development of Services at KTZ – Freight transportation JSC, provided information on the work carried out within the company to improve the logistics climate and the logistics development index (LPI), as well as the international trade indicators for the “Doing Business” rating.

KTZ – Freight transportation JSC, together with the relevant ministries and shippers, have optimised technological processes, reducing transportation times for a number of goods for export, as well as shippers’ financial costs.

A transformation programme is currently being implemented for transportation processes. The purpose of the programme is to simplify the procedures for registration and coordination of transport documents.

KPIs have also been put in place to improve business processes and to monitor the effectiveness of transportation activities.

The introduction of an automated “Contract and commercial work” control system has significantly simplified the process of working with customers and has reduced the time taken to perform work.

Electronic bills of lading are currently registered by 456 stations. Registration of electronic transportation documents using paperless technology has commenced for all empty cars owned by Kaztemirtrans JSC.

Agreements on data and information exchange and paperless transportation of goods have been signed with the railways of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. Testing of data transmission in electronic consignment notes is being carried out, and plans are underway to launch data exchange for invoices in the near future.
