UIC held the 15th Training on High-Speed Systems – Level I in Paris at its headquarters from 8 – 12 April 2019.

The training consisted of five days of intense lectures as well as a technical visit to the Control Centre of the high-speed line TGV Atlantique, which was received with great interest and positive results.

About 24 students attendeed with large delegations from Trenitalia, the National High-Speed Corporation from India and delegates from the UK, Poland, Sweden, ADIF and AREP.

Speakers from UIC, SNCF, Trenitalia, RENFE/ADIF, DB, SENER, RTRI Japan, Oc’Via, Alstom, German University of Cairo, Italian University Bicocca, Birmingham University and Systra took turns during the week to give lessons on their areas of expertise related to high-speed.

The feedback questionnaire was very encouraging as it reflected the commitment of everybody – the speakers, organisers and the trainees – to make the training programme a success.

Among others, the comments included:

  • More than 70% fully met their expectations and objectives at the training
  • About 90% would recommend this training

The idea to set up the High-Speed Training Systems Alumni was launched to be connected with the Intercity & High-Speed Committee.

We are now looking forward to the next Level II Training Seminar to be held from 18 – 22 November 2019 in Madrid in order to make it better.
