Belarus: Railway companies of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan sign agreement

On 4 June a shareholder agreement of JSC United Transport and Logistics Company – Eurasian Rail Alliance (UTLC ERA) was signed in Moscow. The document indicates that the railway administrations of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan intend to continue integrating transit transport by rail in the Eurasian Economic Union. The shareholders hold equal shares (33.33% for each shareholder).

The document was signed by Oleg Belozerov, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Russian Railways, Vladimir Morozov, Head of Belarusian Railway, Sauat Mynbayev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy NC JSC.
The United Transport and Logistics Company (UTLC) was established on 13 November 2014 by the railway administrations of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

The company was founded to provide complete service for organizing container transport between China-Europe-China using the 1,520mm railway gauge from the Kazakh-Chinese border to the Belarusian-European border.

In 2018 JSC UTLC was restructured into JSC UTLC ERA.

Today, UTLC ERA is a major player on the market of container transport by rail in the Eurasian Economic Union. In 2015, 48000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) were transported by the company between China and Europe via Belarusian Railways, but in 2018 the figure exceeded 280000 TEUs.
