Russia/Egypt: Russian and Egyptian Railways are looking to cooperate

General Director and Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways Oleg Belozyorov and Director General of Egyptian National Railways Ashraf Raslan held a working meeting at the PRO//Motion.EXPO International 1520-Gauge Railway Salon, which started on 28 August in Shcherbinka in Moscow.

During their conversation, the heads of the companies agreed that there are favorable conditions for establishing close cooperation between Russia and Egypt in railway transportation.

Mr Belozyorov noted that the Russian Railways holding is interested in participating in the modernisation of Egyptian rail.

“Our company is committed to an effective partnership. We are ready to offer our Egyptian partners progressive developments and technologies and introduce them in projects in Egypt,” the head of Russian Railways said.

Mr Belozyorov also noted that the Russian Railways holding company has a full cycle of competencies for implementing complex infrastructure projects: from economic efficiency assessments to the development of design, engineering and construction solutions.

Mr Raslan also expressed the readiness of the Egyptian Railways to cooperate with the Russian Railways holding, noting that Egypt has big plans for developing the country’s railway network.
