North Macedonia: New Director General of PE MZI (Macedonian Railway Infrastructure)

Following the decision of the Management Board on 10 October 2019, Assistant Professor (Doc.Dr.) Festim Halili has been appointed Director General of the Public Enterprise for Railway Infrastructure Railways of the Republic of North Macedonia - Skopje.

Mr Festim Halili held the position of Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia in the period from April 2016 to June 2017. From October 2018 to March 2019, he was a visiting professor at the Lithuania University of Business and Applied Sciences in Klaipeda and the University of Craiova in Romania at the Department of Automation, Computer and Electronics. In May, October and November 2018, Mr. Halili was also a visiting professor at FH Technikum Wien - University of Applied Sciences and at the University of Pannonia – Faculty of Information Technology in Hungary. In the period from 2008 to 2010 he was engaged as a consultant for telecommunications at INACON GmbH in Karlsruhe, Germany.

From 2009 to the present date, Mr Halili has been working as professor at the State University in Tetovo.

Mr Halili graduated in 2007 in the field of communication sciences and technology at the South East European University in Tetovo, accompanied with a scholarship from the German foundation DAAD for continuation of part of the studies at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Afterwards, he completed a Master’s degree in the field of computer sciences, software development and applications at the South East European University in Tetovo. Mr Halili obtained the PhD degree in computer sciences at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tirana in 2014, while at the Royal Holloway University of London he completed the PhD research upon awarded scholarship from the British Scholarship Trust Foundation.
