Slovakia: Igor Polák has been appointed new CEO of ŽSR

On 29 October 2019, Mr Igor Polák was appointed the new CEO of ŽSR.

Mr Polák has been working in the railway sector for 35 years. He graduated in electric traction and power engineering in transport from the University of Trasport and Communications in Žilina.
He started his professional career at Czechoslovak Railways (ČSD), where he held various positions in operations and in investment preparation in the Electrical Section and later in the Power and Electrical Engineering Section. He later held the role of Head of the Preparation and Implementation Centre of the ŽSR Directorate General Investment Department. Mr Polák served as a Deputy Director-General for Development and IT of ŽSR.
Prior to taking up his current role, Mr Polák held the position of Deputy Director-General for Operations at ŽSR.

UIC congratulates Mr Polák on his appointment and wishes him every success in his new role.
