Tunisia: Mr Chiheb Ben Ahmed was appointed President and CEO of Tunisian National Railways (SNCFT) on 30 April

Mr Ben Ahmed holds a PhD in electrical engineering (telecommunications) from the National Engineering School of Tunis (ENIT) and Monmouth University in the USA.
He began his career in 1991 as a research engineer at the Regional Institute for Informatics and Telecommunication (IRSIT) in Tunis. In 1999, he took up the role of Principal Engineer for Network and IT Security and IT and Telecommunications Project Administrator, and became Director of Telecommunications in 2001.

He was appointed as Director of Operations, Catering and Freight in 2008, and became General Representative of Tunisair in Egypt in 2011.

In 2012, he held two roles in parallel: Deputy Director General of Tunisair, President and CEO of the Board of Tunisair Handling and Director General of AISA (Aviation IT Services Africa) Tunisair.

In 2013 and up until his nomination, he served as Deputy Director General and President of the Board of Tunisair Technics.

In 2014, he held the role of Minister for Transport. At the end of his mandate, on 6 February 2015, he joined Poulina Group Holding (PGH) as Director General.
He has published 35 scientific research papers (journals and international conferences) on analytical modelling, intelligent networks, cryptanalysis, intelligent routing, design and dimensioning, and stochastic modelling.
He has contributed to and supervised numerous studies nationally and internationally and has implemented development projects in the transport, logistics and techno-economic freight domains.

Mr Ben Ahmed, in his capacity as President and CEO of SNCFT, serves as Chairman of the African Union of Railways (AUR), a specialised institution of the African Union (AU).

Mr Ben Ahmed is married with two children.
