Belgium: New: Regular rail connection between Ruhr and Czech Republic

From 15 June Lineas, the largest private rail freight operator in Europe, will a new regular connection to its international network. Three round trips per week connect the Ruhr region directly to the Czech Republic, including first and last mile options in the whole country. Onwards connections to the rest of the European hinterland are possible via Lineas’ Green Xpress Network.

Whereas Lineas already offers frequent train services between Antwerp and the Czech Republic via Falkenberg, the company is now further extending its services to include pick-up and drop-off in the Ruhr region. “There is a keen interest by customers to move their goods directly from West-Germany to East-Germany and especially to the Czech Republic. Via our new connection, we can offer fast, reliable and sustainable transportation,” explained Jan Elfenhorst, general manager of Lineas Deutschland.

Three round trips per week connect Recklinghausen Ost to Usti Nad Labem, where Lineas also offers first and last mile options to the whole of Czech Republic. The other way around, companies can easily connect their goods in Recklinghausen to other key destinations in Europe via Lineas’ Green Xpress Network.
