At our last GLCN meeting in October it was suggested to make a questionnaire on level crossing closure times.
There is the need to address both safety and convenience in describing closure times. If closed for too long, users are more incentivized to take risks and misuse the crossing - eg racing the lights, damaging barriers or even weaving after the first train.
UIC will take into consideration the results of this questionnaire about the down time of barriers and present the results at our next GLCN meeting in March 2025.
