About XCROSS project: Railway crossings are critical yet costly infrastructure elements. Many eventually deteriorate; driving up maintenance costs, triggering operational delays and straining rail operators’ budgets.
That’s where XCROSS comes in. 🔍 What’s the goal? To transform how we inspect, monitor and maintain railway crossings using cutting-edge digital tools and smarter maintenance strategies.
💡 XCROSS will deliver: • Fast, precise inspections using 3D laser scanning and computer vision. • Smart digital twins to simulate wheel-rail interaction and optimise planning. • Use of Augmented Reality (AR) and 3D printing to improve on-site maintenance. • An early warning system to catch damage before it becomes critical.
