Title: “CorruTrack Contract 1 – Rail Corrugation Research: State-of-the-Art Review, Modelling of Corrugation Mechanisms and Development of UIC Guidelines on Countermeasures”

Summary: Rail corrugation is a common railway infrastructure problem characterized by wave-like irregularities on the rail surface, leading to increased noise, vibration, maintenance costs, and accelerated wear of both track and rolling stock. Through the CorruTrack project, UIC seeks expert support to review current knowledge on rail corrugation, analyse real-world cases provided by infrastructure managers, develop numerical models to understand the underlying mechanisms, and prepare practical guidelines on prevention and corrective measures. The project aims to help railway infrastructure managers improve maintenance efficiency, reduce lifecycle costs, and enhance environmental and operational performance.
