Communication Guidelines

Communications Support for a harmonised promotion of UIC activities

When you need to promote your activity, please approach the Communications Department for recommendations in terms of image, harmonisation of messages, optimisation of processes and cost, deadlines and quotes, as it has a global vision of the graphic guidelines, and its process to streamline the service providers.

It is important for the organisation that our communication is coherent and recognisable, and this is achievable by developing the guidelines and processing all external documents through the corporate communications.

On this page, you will always find the latest and right products you need, to better represent your organisation when communicating or when speaking for UIC, in terms of general advice to follow a common vision.

Templates
UIC templates (Powerpoint presentation / Letter / Document) are available on the UIC intranet
You must be logged in to the UIC network to access the intranet.

Regional Communications

When a Regional Office needs to create a document for UIC, please make sure you are doing it accordingly with this guidelines, using the right logos, colours and recommendations in general.

Imagery

For the use of photos, UIC has a complete Mediacenter: https://mediacenter.uic.org where you can find all types of images (statutory meetings, congresses, conceptual images...) belonging to UIC.
However, if you need an extra photo, the communications department can buy it for you on https://stock.adobe.com where we have an account.
Any photo that doesn’t come from these sources must come with a copyright.

Typographical coherence
  • UIC is always written in upper case
  • Numbers one to ten should be written in full. For numbers beyond ten, use numerals 95; 1001
  • Use commas to separate groups of thousands - 880,010
  • Use % rather than per cent
  • Dates should take the form 6 June 2008
  • A range of years should be expressed in the form 2008-2009
  • £100,000, £1 million, £2 billion (not £1m or £2bn)
  • Bullet point list
  • Use an upper case letter at the beginning of each point
  • Do not punctuate at the end of each point
  • If a bullet point contains more than one sentence, punctuate correctly, but do not put a full stop at the end of the final sentence
