We welcome individuals enthusiastic about sharing their work, whether it comprises original research findings, case studies, theoretical perspectives, or innovative methodologies, to join us. Abstract submissions should focus on topics aligned with the central theme of WCRT 2025.
Accepted abstracts will have the opportunity to be presented either in person at the congress venue or online. It is a unique opportunity to engage with peers, gain constructive feedback, and foster collaborations that can drive meaningful advancements in your respective fields.

Privacy Policy of Your Personal Data and Transfer Outside of The European Union
The registration for the 7th WCRT in Chengdu, China, involves the transfer of personal data outside the EU and more specifically to the People's Republic of China, where the General Data Data Protection Regulation is not in place, including:

The purpose of processing for these personal data are essential for application to the congress, for the execution of the contract between UIC on the one hand, Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), the Chinese organizer on the other hand and their subcontractors, to allow participants to attend and make a presentation at the 7th WCRT in Chengdu, China.
The purpose of the collection and transfer of personal data is in participant’s personal interest, for the performance of the contract binding participants to UIC and SWJTU in the context of his/her participation in the 7th WCRT in Chengdu, China.
Participants may access this data at any time, request that it be corrected if it proves to be erroneous, and request that it be deleted from all congress information systems if they cancel their participation, according to the type of data and the purpose of processing as explained in the above table.
If participation is maintained, personal data will be kept for a period as stated in the above table, depending on the type of data. They will then be destroyed and deleted from all the congress information systems.
It shall not be given, sold nor transferred for any other purpose than the one mentioned above.
Call for Abstracts rules and guidelines - Abstract Regulations
Applicant Speakers (Applicants) are invited to make one or several Proposals (“Abstracts”). If selected, the Applicant will be the Speaker in charge of delivering the presentation in person during the congress.
Implications of submitting an Abstract
By providing the Scientific Committee with an Abstract, Applicants commit themselves to deliver a Presentation at the Congress venue in accordance with the Congress programme.
Criteria for Abstract Selection
Abstracts will be assessed using the following criteria which will have weightings attached.
- Thematic relevance - Is the abstract relevant to one or more of the WCRT2025 themes and topics?
- Quality of content - Is the abstract well written, technically sound, with the methodology, results and conclusions clear and easy to understand?
- Take up and implementation - Is it clear how the results are practically implementable and useful to improve the railway for its customers and the wider society?
- Innovation and scientific contribution - Is this research new/ novel or has it been done before by someone else (or by the author)?
Committee Discretion
If after selection on the basis of their Proposal, the Applicant’s Presentation is not consistent with their Proposal or not compliant with the rules and guidance, the Scientific Committee will be entitled to ask the Applicant to make changes, or in extremis, decline the Proposal.
If your Abstract is accepted as a paper for presentation, you will be expected to submit a full paper and to attend the Congress to present it, either in-person or online. Should the Applicant not be available to present to the Congress, he/she shall advise the Scientific Committee and nominate a suitably qualified alternative for approval. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to decline the proposed alternatives and cancel the Presentation.
The Scientific Committee may reject any Abstract which does not comply with the rules and the schedule of this Call for Papers without having to justify the decision.
Speaker rates
Being selected as a Speaker grants access to the Congress at discounted Speaker rates.
However, please note that travel reservations and accommodation expenses will remain the responsibility of the Speakers regardless.
Timeline
Call for Abstracts: 07 March 2024.
Deadline for Abstract Submission: 07 June 2024.
Confirmation of Accepted Abstracts: 05 July 2024
The Scientific Committee will inform each Applicant of its decision by e-mail. At the same time, instructions will be sent about the required format for the full paper and presentation.
Deadline for Full Papers & Presentation Submission: 15 November 2024
Full papers and presentations of the selected Speakers must be handed before the deadline.
Presentations must be in English and produced in PowerPoint format. Each presentation is limited to 15 minutes and 12 slides including title slide and the final slide.
Slides should highlight key facts, dates and graphics illustrating the paper and avoid repeating long texts.

Speaker may be asked to accept changes requested by the Session Chair so as to ensure consistency between sessions and avoid repetition.

Speaker Form Release Disclaimer
- Warrant that you have the necessary rights, permissions, and/or licenses to grant to the Congress Organisers the right to use your paper as set out in these terms.
- Grant to the Congress Organisers a non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license (including the right to sub-license) to use, reproduce, adapt, publish and broadcast to the public your paper for the purpose of organising and running the WCRT and recording and promulgating the outcomes of the WCRT. This may include publishing your paper on the WCRT website, in WCRT papers, programmes and promotional material, in WCRT reports, recordings and compilations or publications of Congress proceedings on WCRT designated online knowledge sharing platforms1.
- Agree that the same distribution conditions apply to any poster, PowerPoint or supporting presentation material supplied for the World Congress on Rail Training.
- Acknowledge that accepted speakers must complete conference registration and payment by the due date.
- Acknowledge that you (you as the First Author for this submission) have read and understood the above expectations as a WCRT 2025 presenter and will endeavour to submit all requested submission items on time. Should a delay in submitting an item occur, you will notify us at wcrt2025@uic.org immediately.
- You have the authority and agree to authorise any design, photos or copyright items in your publication to be published.
