The UIC High Speed Plenary Committee met on 5 May 2010 at the UIC Headquarters in Paris. Delegates from APTA (USA), CR (China), DB AG (Germany), High Speed 2 (UK), TRENITALIA (Italy), CP (Portugal), Renfe (Spain), and CNTK (Poland), among others, took an active part in the meeting.
Information on the activities that had taken place was presented by the events’ organisers. These activities, such as training sessions and workshops, demonstrated the close cooperation between UIC High Speed and all the rail networks around the world that are interested or involved in high speed. Events included the workshop in Seoul, Korea, in November 2009 which was dedicated to high speed engineers and the “Practicum” triple training session held in Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles, USA, in February 2010.
The seventh Training Session on High Speed will take place from 28 June – 2 July 2010 and will offer an overview of all the elements which make high speed a unique system. More than 50 speakers from all over the world will play an active role at this event, giving participants information on all the technical, economical and commercial aspects of high speed. As participants come from all over the world, this session will also represent an important opportunity to share different experiences.
Studies carried out on the social, economical and environmental aspects of high speed include “High speed contribution to sustainable mobility”, “High speed and the city”, “Energy for high speed systems operation”, and “Maintenance of high speed lines”, among others.
To keep up the good work, futures projects were proposed including workshops, Standards (in China and Paris), and a study on “Legal issues for high speed”.
The UIC high speed website is available to all members and provides almost all the documents or studies they might need:
