On 19 April 2012, Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director- General, met Dr Frank C.K. Fan, Director-General of TRA (Taiwan Railways Administration – MOTC), responsible for managing, maintaining, and running passenger and freight services on around 1000 km of conventional railway lines across the island.

This meeting, organised as part of the 13th UIC Asia-Oceania Regional Assembly and other UIC workshops held in Taipei, gave both sides the opportunity to discuss a number of projects currently managed by TRA, to nurture the relationships between TRA as an Associate Member and UIC, and to find concrete opportunities to meet, exchange on successful courses of action and involve TRA in UIC regional and global projects and activities.
