ITSOL4SAFETY comes to a close: Introducing the UIC Safety Hub

After three years of successful joint work, the ITSOL4SAFETY Opt-in Project has been completed on time. UIC warmly thanks its financing members: Trains of Portugal (CP), Network Rail, Infrabel, the Spanish National Railway Network (RENFE), and ProRail, for their trust and commitment which made this achievement possible.

A major outcome of the project is the official launch of the UIC Safety Hub – a new website offering a single-entry point to a wide range of railway safety tools, resources, and UIC Safety Platform activities.

Key achievements of the Opt-in project include:

  • Year 1: Modernisation of the UIC Safety Database, with a new Safety Data Collection Tool and an interactive dynamic dashboard.
  • Year 2: Development of a dedicated peer review tool, supporting UIC’s role as technical coordinator. The tool is multilingual (English and French), is adaptable to different Safety Culture Models, and enables insights and confidential reporting for peer-reviewed organisations to be consolidated in a secure manner.
  • Year 3: Transfer and upgrade of the Prevention of Railway Suicides and Trespassing Accidents (RESTRAIL), and Safer Level Crossings (SAFER-LC) toolboxes (developed by the UIC Security Department), and creation of a new toolbox dedicated to new technologies.

Members are invited to explore the UIC Safety Hub, test the toolboxes, access existing safety measures and propose their own measures. The platform also provides an overview of UIC Safety activities, including projects, publications, and key railway safety events (including ILCAD and TRESPAD, thematic webinars, and workshops).

Explore the UIC Safety Hub and explore years of safety expertise in one place.
