On 7 September 2026, UIC held the kick-off meetings of three new working groups launched to support the migration of selected UIC Leaflets to International Railway Solutions (IRSs), together with the related content updates.
These activities are being conducted as part of the UIC Standardisation Unit and the Operations Sector’s work, further supporting rail’s efforts to keep operational documents aligned with current railway needs and practices.
The three working groups focus on:
- Train running information and performance management (Leaflets 450-1 and 450-2)
- Train numbering (Leaflets 419-1 and 419-2)
- Border section management agreements (Leaflet 471-1)
To further these aims, the meetings brought together UIC member experts and the partner organisation RailNetEurope (RNE), launching a collaborative drafting process based on targeted sprints.
Participation remains open to interested experts with relevant experience in the areas in question.
