On 21 February 2023, the Spanish Government approved the appointment of Raül Blanco Díaz as the new President of Renfe.

Blanco Díaz holds a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona and a postgraduate degree in Local and Regional Development.

Until last December, he held the position of Secretary General for Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.
