The steering committee for the IMPRESS (IMProving Railway sEcurity through awareneSS and training) project, coordinated by the UIC Security Department and co-funded by the European Union, was held online on 30 April 2025.
The project partners - the German Police University, FS, NS, PKP S.A. and SNCB - discussed the project implementation, including the updates to the training modules and awareness materials, the exploitation plan and the final report. During the meeting, the partners also prepared for the upcoming Final Conference on 14 May 2025.
The meeting was also an opportunity to highlight recent dissemination activities.
Magdalena Kujacińska, PKP S.A. Security Office Project Manager, presented IMPRESS during the meeting of the Polish Central Team of the security and safety in the railway areas and on the trains.
Grigore Havârneanu, UIC Senior Security Research Advisor, presented IMPRESS at the CEPOL Research and Science Conference. He also joined the UIC World Congress on Railway Training online, where he was able to share project results with training directors, human resources and development professionals as well as rail educational and vocational institutions.
Laura Petersen, UIC Senior Security Research Advisor, presented the IMPRESS project during in the Securing Public & Workshop Spaces Cluster webinar, for which the recording is available. She also provided the UITP Security Committee with an overview of the project and a training-of-trainers for one of the modules. During the EU project SPIRIT Final Conference, she represented IMPRESS on the “Collaborative Foresight: Securing Worship and Public Spaces through Innovation” panel.
Marie-Hélène Bonneau, UIC Security Department Director, presented an update on the project during DG MOVE’s 44th Expert Group on Land Transport Security (LANDSEC) meeting.
Partners were also informed about the publication of the sixth edition of the IMPRESS Review, a media monitoring on the topic of rail security carried out by the UIC Security Department. The final IMPRESS Review is to be published before 30 May.
