RSindex best-practice sharing webinar, 26 June 2024, 13:30-15:30

UIC members and Rail Sustainability index (RSi) respondents are invited to attend a best practice webinar. This online capacity building event will be an opportunity for members to learn from those who have achieved high RSi scores for certain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) about the challenges they faced, the methodologies they have put in place to achieve these results, and the recommendations they could make to help others in improving their sustainability performance and RSi scores.

Draft agenda

• A panel of rail experts in social sustainability will share their best practices on how their company achieved high scores in contributing to SDG 5, SDG 8 and SDG 11.
• Rail experts in environmental sustainability will share their best practices on how their company achieved high scores in contributing to SDG 7, SDG 9, SDG 12 and SDG 13.

Background

The RSi tool has been developed to enable all UIC member companies to report their sustainability achievements following a framework formulated around a shortlist of seven key United Nations SDGs, a series of 35 Key Performance Indicators, and more than 50 other collected or calculated variables.

The RSi aims to produce an accurate overview of how the railways perform in terms of sustainability and complements the Traction Energy and Emissions Database for which the UIC Sustainability Unit has been collecting data for over a decade.
