Slovenian Railways (SZ): Dr. Matija Tasic appointed Director General

On 17 March 2009, the Supervisory Board of Slovenian Railways (SZ) has appointed Dr. Matija Tasic as new Director General of the Slovenian Railway company.

Dr. Matija Tasic was born in January 1955. He graduated in physics at the Faculty of Natural sciences and Technology, was awarded a Master’s degree in international marketing and got his doctorate at the Faculty of Business Administration. In his previous career he was among other responsibilities director of Metal Ravne (steel making company), deputy chairman of the management board of Slovenske Zelezarne (Slovenian Ironworks), prosecuting attorney and adviser of the management board of Metal Ravne, and until 17 March 2009 Mayor of Prevalje Municipality.

UIC warmly congratulates Dr Matija Tasic for his appointment at the head of Slovenian Railways.
