Luc Lallemand, CEO of Infrabel, together with Marc Descheemaeker, CEO of SNCB Operator, Robert Etmans, Member of the Management Board Human Resources and On-Board Service of Deutsche Bahn and Michel Jadot, Director General, International Passenger Services of SNCB and President of Thalys International, inaugurated, on 12 June the new high speed line between Liège and the German border. This is a milestone for Belgium as the Belgian high speed network is now completed from border to border.

As of June 14, high speed trains that take the high speed line Liège-German border (LGV3) can now link Liege-Cologne in 1:01 instead of 1:23. The new line is situated on the strategic axe between Brussels and Frankfurt for which travel time has reduced to 2:56 instead of 3:42 before. UIC was represented at the inaugural trip.
