Mr. Ion Garoseanu was appointed as Director General of CFR SA on July 1st, 2009.

Mr Garoseanu graduated the Transport Faculty of the Bucharest Polytechnic University in 1990, and later the Management Programmes MBA British Open University Business and Overseas Technical School (Tokyo, Japan).

After graduating the faculty, Mr Garoseanu held positions and management positions within the Romanian railway system between 1990 and 2000.
Between 2000 and 2005, he held the position of Traffic Director and then of Deputy Director General of the national freight railway undertaking “CFR Marfa SA”. Since 2005 till the end of June 2009, he held management and top management positions in the private sector or national and international freight railway transport.
