Bruno de Pontfarcy, ex Captain in the French Navy, is a graduate of the French Naval Academy, in Brest.
He spent the first 15 years of his career as a fighter pilot, flying the Super Etendard for 15 years from aircraft carriers in the French Navy and subsequently Tornado in the United Kingdom and Germany. Between 1995 and 1998 he commanded an operational squadron of fighters and then ran the naval fighter pilot training school. In 1998 he became responsible for the operational services of a naval air base, which required him to coordinate the aeronautical activities of five groups, both on land and on board aircraft carriers and to become project leader for the construction of a squadron of planes Rafale. Between 2003 and 2009, Bruno de Pontfarcy worked at the Prefecture, in Brest, with responsibility for a maritime safety and security centre, for which he planned and managed operations before taking on a project management role.
This appointment reinforces Eurotunnel’s existing security arrangements particularly in the framework of preparation for the 2012 Olympic games with the public authorities.
