The Moroccan Railways’ (ONCF) core commitments, in addition to those focusing on boosting traffic growth whilst maintaining safety and quality of service standards, and in a socially and environmentally responsible fashion, involve the implementation of a significant investment programme worth 33 billion dirham. The two key projects are the high-speed rail connection between Tangiers and Casablanca (20 billion dirham) and the continued upgrading of the current network (13 billion).

The first agreement in the rail development programme concluded between the Moroccan government and the ONCF was signed by the Minister of Economy and Finance Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Karim Ghellab and ONCF Chief Executive Mohamed Rabie Khlie.

The second agreement on the implementation of the project for the TGV line from Tangiers to Casablanca was also signed by the Ministers of Economy and Finance, Infrastructure and Transport, and the ONCF Chief Executive, as well as by Mr. Abdelwahed Kebbaj, Chairman of the Hassan II Fund for Economic and Social Development.

On this occasion, Minister Karim Ghellab presented to His Majesty the King of Morocco the chief priorities set out in the 2010 – 2015 programme concluded between the Moroccan government and ONCF and the proposed TGV to link Tangiers and Casablanca (source: ONCF).
