AGORA is a common learning project financed through the Marco Polo scheme. It aims to identify and communicate best practices in terminal management.

Intermodal terminals contribute decisively to the growth of combined transport by supplying the physical handling at the interface rail-road-inland waterway and often by moderating the interests of the stakeholders.

To hightlight this important “role in the intermodal supply chain”, an interim dissemination workshop was held on 2 March in Vienna which focused on good practices in terminal management and in the management of interfaces. Discussions were held on measures to increase efficiency and performance but also on services to be offered by terminals etc.

UIC, which is a partner in this project, was asked to make a presentation on the need for structured access to information. Sandra Gehenot, on behalf of UIC thus presented the pros and cons of a communication’s platform and made a live presentation of UIC’s Railfreight Portal.

The interim seminar gathered approximately 30 representatives of major terminals.

The closing conference of the project will be organised by UIC and will take place on 16-17 November in Frankfurt.
