“International Transport Forum 2010” from 26-28 May in Leipzig

At the “International Transport Forum 2010” in Leipzig, UIC and Deutsche Bahn will present on 26 May the innovative web application EcoTransIT World at their exhibition stands. “EcoTransIT World” provides for the first time carbon- footprints of logistical chains including all transport modes on a world level.

At this event headlined “Initiative for green logistics – EcoTransIT World : an innovative approach for global carbon foot printing” Dr Volker Kefer, Board Member Technology and Services (DB AG), Jean Pierre Loubinoux, Director General (UIC), Birgit Heftrich, Vice President Corporate Supply Chain and Procurement (Siemens) and Rene Schöbel, Strategy Transportation and Logisitics (DB Schenker) will give an introduction to the new tool, show you how it supports green logistics and discuss the prospects of “green products” in logistic operations in order to create smart systems where sustainability advantages of the different transport modes are exploited and combined in one joint system.

Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director General will also take part in the session “Getting down to business: Partnerships for a more innovative transport system” on Friday 28 May together with Scott Belcher, President & CEO (ITS America), John Lyras, Chairman, Shipping Policy Committee (International Chamber of Shipping) and Hans Rat, Secretary General (International Association of Public transport – UITP).
