At its General Assembly held on 2 June in Coventry, the association of European Rail Infrastructure Managers (EIM) elected Mr. Hubert du Mesnil, President of the French railway infrastructure manager Réseau Ferré de France (RFF), as the new EIM Chairman. He succeeds Mr. Bert Klerk, Chairman of the Dutch network infrastructure manager ProRail, and will start his two-year mandate on 1 September.
Hubert du Mesnil will be assisted by three Vice Chairmen: Mr. Luc Lallemand, CEO of Infrabel (Belgium), Gunnar Malm, CEO of Trafikverket (Sweden) and Romeu Reis, Board Member of Refer (Portugal).
EIM was created in 2002 and groups independent infrastructure managers from 10 European countries (Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom).
The newly-elected Chairman Hubert du Mesnil stated: “Successfully opening up the market will require, as far as possible, the creation of a genuinely seamless and standardised network within Europe in the interests of passengers and shippers. This is the task which EIM will be focusing on as a priority.”
UIC conveys congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Hubert du Mesnil on his election as the new EIM Chairman and expresses its warmest thanks to Mr. Bert Klerk for the excellent cooperation links he helped foster with UIC during his chairmanship in recent years.
