The nine-car Spanish high-speed Talgo train was tested for the first time in Bosnia-Herzegovina on the route Sarajevo-Doboj.
The journey took three hours in total, reaching maximum speeds of 70 km/hour.
Under ideal conditions, the Talgo train can travel at speeds up to 220 km/hour; however the current configuration of the country’s rail infrastructure means such speeds are not possible for the time being. Mid-term work is in progress to adapt the track for line speeds of 140 – 160 km/hour.
On the other hand, passenger comfort has increased considerably already, thanks to onboard facilities including music channels, dining cars and air conditioning.
