From August 2010, Charleroi-Sud railway station will be equipped with 240 photovoltaic panels (for a total surface of 400 m²). This installation, the first of this kind for a SNCB-Holding building, will help produce 55.000 kWh of electricity, that is nearly 15% of the station’s power consumption. This 240.000 € investment will reinforce railways’ green reputation, with a carbon neutral production of energy.
