Algeria: SNTF revitalises its locomotive fleet

As part of the modernisation of the Algerian railway system the SNTF is currently renovating its locomotive fleet. All diesel locomotives will be taken out of service by the end of the year. According to SNTF the purchase of 64 new train sets will enable the transport of more than 60 million passengers per year, beginning in 2013. In addition, a centre for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of the train sets has been set up in the outskirts of Algiers.
