China has announced it will cooperate with Thailand to build Southeast Asia’s first high speed rail line.

According to a Thai official, the Chinese experts will provide their technological know-how in a project worth 6 billion US dollars. The Thai government is currently deliberating and the approval for the project should come in October, after which the two countries will begin the first round of negotiations. The Sino-Thai joint venture will include three high speed lines and will be the first high speed project in Thailand.
