From late 2013, Deutsche Bahn (DB) plans to operate modern double-deck passenger coaches offering comfortable facilities on several IC lines. DB has placed an order with Bombardier Transportation for 135 double-deck coaches from the latest generation as well as for 27 class 146.2 locomotives at a total cost of 360 million Euros.
